Marsh Harbour International Airport (IATA: MHH, ICAO: MYAM) is an airport located on the Abaco Island in The Bahamas.
Marsh Harbour is a major tourist attraction in the Bahamas, it is home to just propeller aircraft and regional airliners. It serves Nassau and a few Florida cities. The government has been trying to expand the airport for years; groundwork has been started for a longer runway that could allow larger, regional jets to operate in and out of Marsh Harbour while the airport terminal has seen only minimal enhancements.
R&B Singer Aaliyah died in a plane crash on this airport on August 25, 2001 along with 8 others. The cause of the accident was the plane being overgrossed (overweight) making a successful takeoff from the short runway impossible.
