Marquess of Gouveia

The Marquess of Gouveia was a title created by King Philip III under the charter of January 20, 1625 in favour of Manrique da Silva, 6th count of Portalegre, sond of the 2nd and the 4th counts of Portalegre.

The title was extince by Joseph I under the Távoras Trials.

Charles I recreated the title under the decree of November 15, 1900 in faour of Afonso de Serpa Leitão Freire Pimentel.

  4. D. João Mascarenhas (1699-?); 7th conde de Santa Cruz, 4th marquess of Gouveia.
  5. D. José Mascarenhas da Silva (October 2, 1708 - executed on January 13, 1759) 8th count of Santa Cruz, 5th marquess of Gouveia. 8th duke of Aveiro, later deposed.
  6. D. Martinho Mascarenhas (1740?-?). Primogenity of 5th marquês de Gouveia, he was nicknamed "o marquesinho" (the little marquess). The represented the house under the Marquess pf Lavradio.
