A marquee is most commonly a structure placed over the entrance to a hotel or theatre. It has signage on the sides either stating the name of the location, or in the cases of theatres, the movie or artist now appearing at that location. The marquee is often identifiable by a surrounding cache of light bulbs, usually yellow or white, that flash intermittently or as a string with a series of darkened bulbs that rotates around the sign.

a marquee in HTML makes text that moves from one side to the other.
