Marpha brandy
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Near the Nepalese village of Marpha / Marpa there is a farm managed by the Pasang Sherpa, producing a wide variety of fruits including pears, apricots and apples. The fermented juices are used to produce the Marpa brandy, prized throughout Nepal. In Tukche, a district adjacent to Marpa, in the villages of Nirjal and Mana Sherchan, a brandy similar to the apple and apricot varieties produced in Marpa is found, which is distilled from orange juice. Also, the Bishnu and Hirachan distilleries are renowned in the nearby Syang village.
