Markus Korhonen

Markus Korhonen (born April 29, 1975 in Tampere, Finland) is a Finnish ice hockey goaltender currently playing for Brynäs IF of Sweden's Eliteserien.

Korhonen began his career in Finland's SM-liiga, spending two season with TuTo Turku where he served as backup to Timo Lehkonen and Jukka Tammi in respective seasons. He moved to Ilves where he backed up Vesa Toskala. After that he played for Kärpät where despite posted the best save percentage in his career, he still served as backup to Tim Thomas. Seeking a starters role, he moved to Brynäs in Sweden in 2003 and played 48 games as a starter as they finish 10th of 12 teams. After 8 games the next season, he moved to the Russian Super League and spent the rest of the season with SKA St. Petersburg. He returned to Brynäs in 2005, again playing 48 games. In 2006 he split his time between Malmö IF and back in Finland for Lukko Rauma. He will return to Brynäs for a third spell in the 2007-08 season.
