Mark Westhead, born 19 July 1975 in Blackpool was an English footballer. Westhead started his career as a 17 year old goalkeeper at Bolton Wanderers, where during his 4 years there they saw promotion from the old Second Division into the Premier League.
On his release from Bolton a brief spell at Sligo Rovers F.C. in the Eircom Premier Division followed with a League Cup final placed the highlight. He returned to England to first Kidderminster Harriers F.C. and later that season Telford United F.C. Good performances saw a return to League football with Wycombe Wanderers F.C. where the highlight of his 3 year spell was reaching the FA Cup Semi Final against Liverpool F.C.
Westhead returned to his native North West with a year spell at Leigh RMI. Excellent displays attracted the attention of Stevenage Borough with whom he spent 3 years ending with a Play-off final defeat to Carlisle United. A spell at Hyde United was followed by a brief spell at Droylsden until a knee injury brought a premature end to his career.
Westhead is now a fully qualified coach and current Goalkeeping Coach of Blackpool F.C. centre of Excellence.
