Mark Wegner

Mark Patrick Wegner (born March 4, 1972 in Saint Paul, Minnesota) is an umpire in Major League Baseball who will be supervised by Bruce Froemming in 2007, along with Mike Winters and Brian Runge. He has worked in the National League in 1998-1999, and throughout both major leagues since 2000. He has umpired in the Division Series in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Wegner wears uniform number 47. Wegner is known for his charity work, being involved in church activities and BLUE for kids, which in an organization in which baseball umpires help kids who are physically or financially unable to buy tickets to Major league baseball games. On June 2, 2007, Wegner ejected Chicago Cubs manager Lou Pinella after he argued that Angel Pagan was out at third base. Pinella kicked dirt at Wegner, threw his cap down and kicked it and finally home plate umpire Bruce Froemming came over to restrain Pinella. Pinella was suspended for 4 games, the longest suspension of his career.
