From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Mark Schultz, born in Palo Alto, California, is a retired sport wrestler. Schultz attended Palo Alto High, coached by Ed Hart and Chris Horpel. He only wrestled his senior year and ended up winning the California state championship(cif). His coach said that his win could have been a result to wrestling in his brothers shadow[citation needed]. Schultz won the 1984 Olympic Gold Medal in Freestyle Wrestling. He was also a 3-time NCAA Champion, 2-time World Champion, and winner in the Ultimate Fighting Championships in UFC 9, defeating Gary Goodridge by TKO.He has also known to have trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Pedro Sauer and to have had a Gracie challenge match against Rickson Gracie. He is the brother of Dave Schultz. The Schultz brothers won more NCAA, World, and Olympic Titles than any American brother combination in history.
