Mark Redman is a fictional character in the British soap opera Coronation Street. He was played by Christopher Oakswood from birth in 1983 to 1992 and then by Christopher Cook in 1992 to 1994 and then by Paul Fox when the character was re-introduced in 1999. He was the son of Mike Baldwin and Maggie Dunlop. Maggie had a fling with Mike and she fell pregnant with Mark but didn't tell Mike. She then married Harry Redman and Mark was brought up by Harry. After Harry's death Mike discovered Mark was his son and started to interfere in their lives. Maggie and Mark left Weatherfield in 1993 when Maggie remarried.
Mark returned in 1999 and worked for his father Mike helping out in the factory Underworld. He then had an affair with his father's much younger fiance, Linda Sykes behind Mike's back. He left Weatherfield in September 2000 ending his affair with Linda when Mike found out on his wedding day to Linda. He forgave Linda and disowned Mark who left that same day. Mike and Linda remained married for over a year. In September 2001 when Linda's mother Eve was getting married to Fred Elliott, Mark returned and Linda tried to seduce him again on Fred and Eve's wedding day but Mike caught them and demanded a divorce from Linda while Mark once again left.
Mark re-appeared in April 2006 when his father, suffering from Alzheimer's Disease, visited him in his new home in Doncaster after Mark had written him a letter. However, due to the effects of the disease Mike was confused and mistook Mark for his other son Adam. It was only when Mark explained the situation concerning Linda that Mike remembered what had happened and stormed out of the house. During their conversation it was discovered that Mark had a new girlfriend who stayed over nearly every night.
He last appeared at his father's funeral after Mike succumbed to a heart attack a few weeks on from when he reunited with Mark. Following a conversation with his younger half-brother, Adam, in which he convinced him to fight for his inheritance, he left again.
