Mark Ovenden (born 20 June 1963, London, UK) is an author who specialises in the subject of graphic design, cartography and architecture in public transport, with an emphasis on underground rapid transit.

His first book Metro Maps of the World is a comprehensive guide to the diagrams, plans and maps of every subway, U-bahn, underground and metro system. The book has 700 images ranging from photos of the systems to rare and historical maps and every available current official plan. Now in its second edition with Dutch language version released Autumn 2006, American edition (titled Transit Maps of the World) launched 30 October 2007 by Penguin Books, and other editions in the pipeline, the book was supported by the international association of transport operators the UITP and London's Transport Museum

The author is currently preparing two new works, one about the evolution of the Paris Metro, the other about the wider aspects of graphic design on public transport systems.

Mark Ovenden was previously a journalist, news presenter and radio producer. He was the impetus for Due South Magazine and has also worked in TV and radio for such broadcasters as; Kiss 102, Kiss 100, BBC Radio Five, BBC Radio 1, Planet 24, BBC Two, Ministry of Sound, LBC, and MTV. At Atlantic 252 he co-presented a show with Chris Coco.
