Mark Mueller is an ASCAP award-winning songwriter [1] and two-time Emmy nominated lyricist [2] from Portola Valley, California, who now lives and works in Encino, California. He has had three Billboard Top Ten singles on the Hot 100 chart (Jennifer Paige’s “Crush”, which reached #3; Amy Grant’s “That's What Love Is For,” which reached #7; and Heart’s “Nothin' at All,” which reached #10). “Crush” also peaked at #2 on the R&R CHR airplay chart, while “That's What Love Is For” was a #1 Billboard AC and #4 R&R CHR airplay hit. [9][10] [11]
Internationally, “Crush” reached #1 on the United World Chart and was a #4 single in the UK and a #1 single in Canada, Spain, Australia and New Zealand. [12] [13][14] [15] [16]
Artists who have recorded Mueller’s work on RIAA-certified platinum and gold albums and singles include: Jennifer Paige; Amy Grant; Heart (band); 'N Sync; Earth, Wind & Fire; SWV; Al Jarreau; George Benson; Aaron Carter; El DeBarge and The Pointer Sisters (on the Billboard #1 “We Are the World (album)). [17] Internationally, his songs have been on BPI-certified platinum and gold records by artists including Girls Aloud, Steps and Eternal (band). Mueller’s songs have been featured in films including “One Hour Photo,” “Pokémon: The First Movie,” “Money Talks,” “B*A*P*S,” “National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation,” “The Last Starfighter” and “Adventures in Babysitting.” [20]
Mueller’s work in television includes the title songs for Disney’s animated series “DuckTales” and “Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers” [21] [22] and he has garnered two Emmy nominations for Best Song for the ABC series “Life Goes On” and the NBC series “Quincy, M.E..” [23] He also co-wrote the script and was Executive Producer of a pilot for CBS titled “Shangri-La Plaza (TV pilot).” [24]
Mueller’s credits on stage include writing the lyrics and co-writing the book of the original musical “Butterfly,” which was performed at the Goodspeed Opera House in Connecticut under the direction of Tony Award-winner Jack Hofsiss.
