Mark J. Sullivan is the current Director of the United States Secret Service.[1] Sullivan succeeded W. Ralph Basham and was sworn in as the 22nd Director of the Secret Service on May 31, 2006.

Born in Arlington, Massachusetts, Sullivan is the oldest of six children. He attended Arlington Catholic High School and from there went on to Saint Anselm College in Manchester, New Hampshire where he received his bachelor's degree. He is married to the former Laurie Bell and has three daughters.[2]

Sullivan began his Secret Service career as a special agent assigned to the Detroit Field Office in 1983. In 1990, Sullivan began working at the Fraud Division in Washington, D.C. One year later, in 1991, Sullivan was assigned to the Presidential Protective Division. Sullivan has received numerous awards for superior performance throughout his 22-year tenure with the Secret Service and his 27-year career in federal law enforcement including a Distinguished Presidential Rank Award in 2005.
