Mariyah Ashraf Moten was a Pakistani born in Karachi, Pakistan, on January 18. She moved to the United States at the age of 5. Moten stated modeling for local boutiques and charity fashions shows at the age of 16. A few years later she signed on with Barbizon Modeling Agency.

After becoming an international beauty pageant sensation and gaining extreme attention throughout the world for being a Pakistani and competing in a bikini contest, Moten continued her studies in Hotel Management at the University of Houston in Texas. Mariyah Moten also attended New York Film Academy where she completed an intense acting course in Los Angeles.

In 2006 she was given an opportunity to represent Pakistan in the Miss Tourism Queen International pageant where she won the Miss Charity title. Mariyah also became the first Pakistani to participate in the Miss Bikini Universe pageant in August 2006 and won the Miss Press/Best in Media title, for being the most photographed and written about delegate at the entire contest.

Mariyah Moten is also the first Pakistani to achieve the title 2nd Runner up at an international pageant representing Pakistan.In 2007, Mariyah Moten participated in the Miss Asia International Pageant where she was selected in the Top 3, and won 2nd Runner Up.

Mariyah Moten also appeared on the front cover of Sexy South Asian Girls 2007 calendar. Mariyah also made an appearance at the Bollywood Music Awards 2006 in Atlantic City, where she presented the Best Dance Video award. She also signed with Kohinoor Diamonds to be the spokesperson and model for 2007. She has also modeled for various south asian clothing lines and became the face of mainstream South Asian women by professionally representing herself in the world of fashion and modeling.
