Maritoni Fernandez (born Antonita Moynihan on March 30, 1970) to Antony Patrick Moynihan, 3rd Baron Moynihan[1] and a Filipina mother and niece to Colin Moynihan, current Baron Moynihan and head of the British Olympic Committee[2]. Antonita was reared by her grandmother in York, England during her childhood years, but later moved to the Philippines to accompany her father who became a close friend of former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos and successful owner of bars and massage parlors in Manila in the 1980s.
As an adult, Antonita became a commercial model and actress in the Philippines, adopting the screen name Maritoni Fernandez[3]. She had considerable success as a screen actress, figuring in many movies with the respected Filipino actor Fernando Poe, Jr. and appearing in the award-winning Hong Kong film Days of Being Wild by acclaimed director Wong Kar Wai.
On her 30th birthday, Maritoni was diagnosed with breast cancer and had since then undergone a lumpectomy in the United States of America[4]. Having gone under remission, she has been serving as a spokesperson for breast cancer patients and survivors in the Philippines and abroad[5][6].
Maritoni is currently a business development manager for Bioessence and entrepreneur-owner of Simple Thoughts, Bella Regalo, RSVP Event Planning and Design, and Just Desserts [7] in addition to her jobs as commercial model and actress in television soap operas for a major Philippine television network. She currently resides with her children in Quezon City north of Manila[8]. She is also currently an active spokesperson for breast cancer awareness in the Philippines.
