Maristella Patuzzi (b. February 14, 1987; Lugano, Switzerland) is a classical violinist and current graduate student at Indiana University. Since she was five she’s performing in Europe with her father, pianist and teacher, Mario Patuzzi. She also had her first recital in Minusio (Locarno) followed by the Elisarion prize for "her great interpretative personality" and for her "charisma in her exhibitions". She also played in Pura, in memory of Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. In 2001, she obtained a scholarship from RPH-Promotor Foundation. At the age of ten, she played as soloist with the Vivaldi Academy Orchestra in the Cathedral of Lugano. Since 2002, she has played as soloist with Mozart Orchestra of Milan, with Padua and Veneto Orchestra, with San Marco Orchestra of Pordenone, with the Italian Orchestra of Switzerland and with the Indiana University Orchestra. When she was seventeen, studying in the Conservatory of Lugano with Roberto Valtancoli, she obtained her diploma in violin in the Conservatory "Giuseppe Verdi" of Milan with top marks, summa cum laude and with honors. She also passed the Federal matriculation exams at Lugano High School the same year. From 1995 to 1999, she studied with Susanne Holm and from 1999 to 2003 she studied with Massimo Quarta, with a scholarship from Pierino Ambrosoli Foundation of Zurigo. In March 2005 she was admitted to Miriam Fried’s studio with Dean’s scholarship at Indiana University, in Bloomington. Done with the Performer Diploma, obtained with best mark, she is currently studying with Mark Kaplan at IU's Jacobs School of Music and graduating with a Master's in Music in August 2008.
