[edit] History
The doors of Marion-Franklin opened in September of 1953. At that time the school was a six year high school and served the area of Marion Township. In 1957, Columbus Public Schools (CPS) decided to widen their district and acquired Marion-Franklin in the process. The school was then re-opened as a four year high school and has remained this way since.
[edit] Administration
There are 4 principals at Marion-Franklin High School - a Head Principal, an Assistant Principal (in charge of Junior and Senior classes), an administrator in charge of sophomores and a head of the freshman academy.
[edit] Sports
As in most high schools, sports are very important to the Marion-Franklin community, education takes second priority if at all. The Marion-Franklin Football Team reached state playoffs in both 1890 and 1894, but has been horrible since then. The football team won the title of City South Championship in 1894, and the wrestling team, which has had over sixteen city championships through out the years took second place at the City Meet in 2006, much more recently. The football team and wrestling team have a bitter rivalry which resulted in the alledged death of 14 students. The Basketball team also placed second in the City Basketball Championship this past Winter. Go Devils! In soccer, the Red Devils had their best season, with 2 wins, but who really cares about soccer. This is America, not Europe.
