Mario Spate is the lead singer of Adelaide Electro/Rock band The Black Doves. He formed his first band Industrial/Heavy Rock outfit Barcode in the late 1990s. Following the release of their first EP "Killing the Boy" the group disbanded and Mario went on to provide vocals for Sydney band Jerk. Mario later left Jerk to return to Adelaide and reform Barcode. However after changing the lineup the band's sound and dynamic differed dramatically and therefore it was decided that the group should be renamed The Black Doves. The Black Doves released their debut EP entitled "Empty Out Your Heart" in Nov. of 2006.
