Sílvio Name Júnior Airport[1] (IATA: MGF, ICAO: SBMG), also known as Maringá - Sílvio Name Júnior Regional Airport[2][4] or Maringá Regional Airport[3][5], is located 12 km (7.5 mi) from downtown Maringá, a city in the state of Paraná in Brazil. The airport serves an area composed of the city of Maringá and neighboring communities, with a total number of 2 million inhabitants. It was built between October, 1994 and July, 2000, and began operating in April 25, 2001.
The airport is very modern, in contrast to other commercial airports not administered by Infraero. It is controlled by the Air Terminals of Maringá SA., by the municipality's order, and sanctioned by the Aeronautic Ministry. The airport's runway is sufficient to provide major regional and domestic flights. Its terminal is designed to handle more than 430,000 annual passengers.
