[edit] Gameplay

Marine Sharpshooter focuses its gameplay between half sniping, and half close-quarters combat. There are a few cut scenes here and there, but they are quite relevant and don't break the story. The game's environment varies from the caves and small villages of Afghanistan, to snowy cliffs and rooftops of Chechnya, to sandy beaches and jungles of Pacific island. Interaction between player and environment is minimal.

The game features simualtions of the real sniper rifles used by the US Marine Corp snipers, as well as other real weapons, such as assault rifles, pistols, and sniper rifles. There is even the occasional RPG used by the enemy.

Game features sniping, as you can zoom in really far with the sniper rifle available. Several points in the game you will be staying in one spot as you engage hostiles that pop out of various doorways and windows, or run down the street toward buildings occupied by friendlies, and you must prevent the hostiles from getting in. At other times, you need to explore, and you get to use your pistol, with an optional silencer, in close-quarters combat.

The game features a semi-intelligent spotter, who can be set to follow you or hold position, and "hold fire" or "weapons free". Spotter's job is to keep you alive, which means the spotter will engage enemies that sneak up behind you, for example, or any hostiles that got close, but if either of you dies, you will fail the mission.

The game features a few first-aid kits as standard inventory, which will patch you up a little after taking hits. Your spotter has his own kits, and he will use them during lulls in fighting. You cannot patch him up, nor vice versa. There are also no further kits or ammo available within the mission. What you bring is all you got.

The artificial intelligence of the opponents is limited.

[edit] Synopsis

[edit] Plot

[edit] Mission 1

You are tasked to get into position on a cliff to observe a local warlord's convoy.

After fighting your way through some caves, and a few canyons, you saw the warlord exchange some nuclear material with a European buyer. You urgently update HQ on the happenings, but the buyer disappears before you get order to engage. You are ordered to break contact and reinserted at a village that the warlord should head for next.

You then fight your way through more caves and canyons before reaching extraction point.

[edit] Mission 2

You learned that the nuclear material was stolen from a Russian site, no idea about the buyer. You will be sneaked into the town where the warlord is. Find a place to get to him.

You start in a garage and you must fight your way through alleys and buildings, individual rooms, and hallways, small streets, and more, and eventually make your way to a rooftop.

[edit] Mission 3

The warlord just came into view, and you have been ordered to eliminate him. You took the shot, and the entire town is after you!

Fight you way down the stairs, into the sewers, back up, and finally hit the courtyard and defend against all comers until the extraction Blackhawk arrives.

[edit] Mission 4

You have been sent to Chechnya to help Russian Spetsnaz (special forces) check on this facility, supposedly abandoned, but reopened. It clearly has something to do with the lost nuclear materials. You will shadow the Spetnatz convoy along the cliff, taking out all opposition on the way, and assist them in breaching the camp.

You sneak up the slope and deal with snipers, then continue along the cliffside, taking out guards and guard dogs along the way. You also dealt with three sets of towers by taking out their guards as well as any one shooting at the Spetnatz trucks. You eventually reached the camp, and dealt with hostile reinforcements coming from behidn the Spetnatz trucks, and enter the camp itself.

[edit] Mission 5

You are now inside the camp, and you will assist the Russian special forces by contributing fire from the rooftops

You shoot hostiles across rooftops and from rooftops at ground-level troops. You then go on catwalks linking the rooftops, eventually into one of the buildings, down to ground level, and eventually to a snowbank, which takes you to next mission.

[edit] Mission 6

You are to go up the cliff side and support the Spetnatz attack of the remaining buildings, and the helipads.

You go up there, kill a few hostiles, and stay there, killing hostiles from up there, protecting Spetnatz attackers until the scientists flee and Spetnatz capture the facility.

[edit] Mission 7

Satellites tracked the escaping choppers landing somewhere and they switched planes and landed in a previously unnoted Pacific island. Satellite imagery shows that it has some WW2 fortifications, but many modern buildings, and what may be a launch tube. Get in there and disable defenses so the Rangers and Marines can land.

You arrive via Zodiac boat to the beach. Take out all guards on the beach, and make your way up to the fort, and find a way in via the sewer system.

[edit] Mission 8

Once in, you heard that someone has noticed the beach patrols are overdue. You must kill a messenger and disable the island's power to win this mission.

[edit] Mission 9

The beach is done, and the forces have landed. You must scout out the route to the interior, as there's likely lots of ambushers on the way, some may have RPGs.

You slowly work your way through the jungle, taking out snipers and shooters and even the occasional RPG shooters, and finally reach the gate to the main compound.

[edit] Mission 10

The grand finale. Escort the attack convoy and support their attack.

You go up the cliff side just as you observe the lead vehicle come under attack. You make it up the cliff and support the first attack, cleaning off the enemies, then you support another attack, then you found the main control tower, and shot several RPG shooters at the bottom. Then that European who paid the warlord head for top of the stairs. You shot him before he can reach the control booth to unleash the missile.
