Marine Drive Station

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Marine Drive Station is a rapid transit station to be built on the Canada Line in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The station is due to open in 2009, when the Canada Line opens.

[edit] Location

The station will be located on the southeast corner of the intersection of Southwest Marine Drive and Cambie Street. It will serve the residential areas of Marpole and the Vancouver South Slope. Also, some streetside commercial stores are located just across from this future station.

Marine Drive Station will be the only Canada Line station in Vancouver with above-grade station platforms. Northbound trains leaving the station will enter a tunnel portal on Cambie Street near West 64th Avenue, from which point they will travel underground all the way to the line's Vancouver terminus at Waterfront Station. Southbound trains will cross the Fraser River via a purpose-built bridge similar to the Skybridge for the Expo Line.

[edit] Services

It is predicted that trolleybuses running along Granville Street (#10), Oak Street (#17), and Main Street (#3)—as well as the former trolleybus route on Cambie Street (#15)—will eventually have their southern termini located at a newly constructed bus exchange at Marine Drive Station, enabling easy transfers for passengers travelling between Vancouver, Richmond, and the Vancouver International Airport. In addition, passengers will also be able to connect to the #100 bus, which runs along Marine Drive.
