Marina Ferrer is a fictional character of the Showtime program The L Word, played by Native American actress Karina Lombard.
She was introduced in the pilot episode as one of the main characters, but made fewer appearances during the following 12 episodes of season 1. She was ultimately written out during season 2 and 3 of this show.
Marina is the owner of the "Planet", a lesbian bar. She seduces Jenny Schecter (played by Mia Kirshner), who separates from her boyfriend Tim after this encounter.
It is later discovered that Marina has a long-term relationship with Francesca Wolff, a costume designer who travels away from Marina and their home for five to six months out of the year. During this time both Marina and Francesca are free to see others, but once Francesca returns home they resume their relationship. This causes Marina and Jenny's blossoming relationship to abruptly end.
At the beginning of season 2 Marina attempts to commit suicide by taking 3 bottles of pills after she has a nervous breakdown, and is sent to her family in Italy. She reappears in the show for two episodes of the fourth season in which she participates in a movie pitch to Jenny, with the movie being a musical.
