Marilyn Horowitz

Marilyn Horowitz is a script consultant and writing coach who is widely known for her trademarked writing system “The Horowitz System™,” which she developed as an award-winning professor at New York University, where she teaches "Writing The Feature" and "Aesthetics II". Horowitz is the author of the popular screenwriting workbooks How to Write a Screenplay in 10 Weeks, How to Write a Screenplay Using the Horowitz System™ - High School Edition [1] and How to Write a Screenplay Using the Horowitz System™ - Middle School Edition. Students who have used the method have completed original, well-structured scripts, many of which have gone on to win screenplay competitions, be optioned and get produced. Her students include screenwriters, award-winning filmmakers and published authors. She is a regular contributor to the magazines Screenwriter, Hollywood Scriptwriter, and Script.

Marilyn Horowitz is the president of ArtMar Productions, a New York-based production company, through which she has produced three independent films, most recently Caleb's Door, a psychological thriller, distributed internationally by Around the Scenes.
The independent film company Snackpack Productions is producing Marilyn’s latest script, entitled The Fixer.
She was the script consultant for the 2007 Warner Bros. film, And Then Came Love, starring Vanessa Williams.

Recently, it was approved for use in the Montgomery County Public School district in Maryland.

Horowitz has taught screenwriting workshops for New York Women in Film and Television (NYWIFT), WGA East, Independent Feature Project (IFP), HBO/Montage Entertainment, the Lake Placid Film Festival and the WIFV (Washington D.C.) Screenwriters Conference. [4]
In May 2008 she will appear at the Screenwriting Conference in Santa Fe (SCSFe). [5]
