The school has been recognized for its manageable and small number of students. [edit] History

In 1990, a school which had a name of Leogardo Victorino Memorial High School was founded in Chanyungco St., Sta. Elena, Marikina, Rizal in honor of Leogardo Victorino, a former congressman in the town of Marikina.

After the town of Marikina officially became a city, the Leogardo Victorino Memorial High School became an institutional school and renamed as Marikina Institute of Science and Technology (MIST). In 2001, Marikina Science High School broke of from Marikina Institute of Science and Technology.. By the power of R.A. 9289, MIST's college sector was renamed as Marikina Polytechnic College (MPC).

The current principal is Mr. Lauro Z. de Guzman.

At the recently held 6th Commencement Exercises for Batch 2007-2008, Mayor Marides C. Fernando described Marikina Science High School as the best public high school in Marikina.

Marikina Science High School used to have only one campus, located at Mayor Juan Chanyungco Street, Brgy. Sta. Elena, Marikina City right near the Marikina City Hall. Last 2004, the school opened another campus (now used to call Annex, and the other as Main) located at Panama Street, Greenheights Subdivision, Brgy. Concepcion Uno, Marikina City.

First Year students had their classes at MSHS Annex and the higher years had their classes at the Main Campus, until the start of school year 2007-2008, due to changes made. Freshmen and Seniors are at the Annex and the Sophomores and the Juniors are at the Main Campus.

In the Main campus is the Principal's Office, the Registrar's Office and the Guidance Counselor's Office. There is a library, a Chemistry Laboratory, a Biology Laboratory, three computer laboratories, a canteen, a school clinic, the Main faculty room, the MAPEH room, the SLK room and seventeen classrooms.

[edit] Academics

[edit] MSHS Grading System

The Marikina Science High School uses the weighted mean system in assessing a student's academic performance. A unit value of 1.5 is given to the major subjects(Math,Science and English) and a unit value of 1 is given to the minor subjects. A zero unit is likewise given to HRO. This system was adopted in order to put emphasis and importance to the fields of study being focused on a specific year level.
