"Marigold" is a song by the American rock band Nirvana. It is a b-side on the band's 1993 single, "Heart-Shaped Box."
Written by drummer Dave Grohl, "Marigold" is very notable in that during their seven year tenure, it is the only song Nirvana officially released that had no contribution from Kurt Cobain. Contrary to popular rumors, Cobain does not play drums on this track. Dave Grohl plays all instruments with the exception of bass, handled by Krist Novoselic.

The song was written in 1990, and an acoustic version appears on Dave Grohl's 1992 cassette-only album, Late!: Pocketwatch when it was titled Color Pictures of a Marigold.
The version that appears as a B-side on Nirvana's single "Heart-Shaped Box" was recorded in February 1993 by Steve Albini and features Grohl on vocals, guitar and drums and Krist Novoselic on bass [1].
The Albini version was re-released in 2004 on the posthumous Nirvana box set, With the Lights Out.
It was performed live for the first time by Grohl as part of the Foo Fighters acoustic tour in Berkeley, CA on July 14, 2006. It became a regular part of the acoustic tour's setlist, and was featured on the Foo Fighters live acoustic album, Skin and Bones.
