The Maricopa (Amtrak station) is located at 19427 N. John Wayne Parkway in Maricopa, Arizona which is in Pinal County, Arizona. Maricopa was added as a stop for the Sunset Limited after Amtrak was forced to withdraw service from Phoenix due to deteriorated track conditions on a secondary Union Pacific Railroad track which diverged from the mainline to serve Phoenix.
On display is a restored Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad dome car, The Silver Horizon (car #375). [1] The dome car, at one time in use as the station office, proved unsuitable and has been replaced by the former Tucson, Arizona station building... a double-wide modular trailer coach that was rolled on to the site after the original historic Tucson Union Station structure restoration was completed in 2005.
Passenger rail service is provided thrice-weekly in each direction by the Sunset Limited.
