Mariano Adrian Bogliacino (born 2 June 1980 in Colonia del Sacramento) is a Uruguayan football midfielder. He currently plays for S.S.C. Napoli.
He also holds an Italian passport.
[edit] Career
Bogliacino begun his career as a football player in his hometown team, Plaza Colonia. He showed great technical potentialities in Uruguayan Premiership, playing as offensive midfielder, left wing, or even second top. After a short Spanish experience in Las Palmas (liga 2), Bogliacino landed to Italy, where he played for Sambenedettese FC (Serie C1) for two years. He was a skilled half-top and happened to score twice against Naples, which had just been retroceeded to the third cathegory because of the company's failure. Naples' sportive manager, the wise and careful Pierpaolo Marino, immediately noticed that such a player could prove to be important for the new and ambitious company owned by Aurelio de Laurentis, the rich cinema priducer. This way in the 2005 summer, for €200,000, Bogliacino was bought by Naples. That year Naples won Serie C1 and Bogliacino got more and more important for geometries and rhythms of the team. The trainer Edy Reja used Bogliacino both as left wing, and as central midfielder, always with good results.
During 2006/2007 Naples won promotion from Serie B (the team was second at the end of the season, after Juventus) and Bogliacino was asked to begin a metamorphosis from offensive midfielder to midfield director. He became a true leader, and even scored in the most important match of the year (Naples-Juventus 1-1). He was confirmed as first choice in Serie A but now faces strong competition for a place in the Napoli midfield; Napoli bought promising players like Marek Hamsik, "El Mota" Gargano, Manuele Blasi who have all shown tactical and technical talent. Bogliacino scored his first goal in Serie A during the match Palermo-Naples 2-1 and his second against Siena (1-1)
[edit] Personal Life
He is married and has a daughter, Celeste, born in Naples last year; her name is taken after the team's colour (in Spanish and in Italian celeste means light blue, which is indeed the colour of Naples' shirt)
