Marianapolis Preparatory School is a co-educational preparatory school located in Thompson, Connecticut, founded in 1926 under the sponsorship of the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception. Its mission was to prepare young men to take leadership roles in society and in the Catholic Church. Although Marianapolis was empowered by the State of Connecticut in 1936 to confer college degrees, during World War II the decision was made to become exclusively a preparatory school. Marianapolis Preparatory School was accredited by the New England Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges in 1955. The school became coeducational in 1974. In 2001, the Trinity Foundation assumed governance of the school, naming Marilyn Ebbitt Headmistress, while the Marian Fathers and Brothers retained ownership. This arrangement continues today. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Norwich.
Marianapolis is situated on a 250-acre arboretum in northeastern Connecticut. Located one hour from Boston and three hours from New York City, it is known for its expansive ESL course offerings, diverse extracurricular activities, and challenging curriculum.
