Maria Rubia is an English model, actress and singer who debuted as vocalist on the Fragma dance track Everytime You Need Me.

Born on 20th December 1977 in Norwich, Norfolk, she moved with her family to southern France where she went to a French-speaking school. The family returned to the UK when Maria was 13, to Swansea, Wales. She became a model and actress, appearing in adverts for Colgate and L’Oreal.

Maria's family moved again to Marbella, Spain. Maria continued her modelling and acting. At the age of 21 she returned to Wales to study Media and Visual Culture at the University of Wales.

At 26, Maria became pregnant with her son Brandon, giving birth would put her in a wheelchair. An X-Ray revealed that her pubic bone had split apart during childbirth. She was diagnosed with a extreme case of Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction. It would take 13 months for her to take her first steps again.

She lives in Swindon, Wilts with her fiancé Jay Taylor and son Brandon.

Maria is fluent in English, German, French and Spanish.

She co-wrote her debut solo single Say It, which was remixed by DJ Rob Searle.

Maria had four international hit singles from 2001-2005 and has sold over 4 million records worldwide.

Maria is working on new tracks with producer Andy Whitmore. They have not been released officially, but via myspace known titles are "In My Imagination" and "In Your Touch".

Currently she is also in a band called From Above comprising of 5 members: María Rubia, Seyi Odedere, Daisy Evans, Chelsey Reynolds and Ashley Shaw. Their style is urban and melodic pop.
