Maria Recamier is a fictional character in the BBC sitcom 'Allo 'Allo!, which ran from 1982 to 1992. She was played by the actress Francesca Gonshaw. Maria was in love with cafe owner René Artois and she had to stand on a small chair in order to be able to reach him so that they could kiss. She sold her body to men for paraffin, gasoline, sugar and butter. She often wore the disguise of a schoolboy (although she still wore stockings and suspenders, as well as make up). She disappeared at the end of the third season of 'Allo 'Allo, after disguising herself as a Red Cross parcel, however she didn't put enough postage on the outside and so she was sent back to Switzerland.
She pronounces the letter "r" very loudly and often spits when she does so.
