[edit] History
The show began as a sequence in the then successful morning show called "Utilisima", which had a small kids section during the summer. In it there was a foam dragon with no name and Karina Rivera, the name "Timoteo" was giving to the dragon through a poll conducted in the section. At the end of the summer of 1995, Karina y Timoteo were given a separate TV show with the name Karina y Timoteo, it was a successful hit in the country itself, with International hit programmes such as Chespirito being aired. The main host, Karina Rivera, fell pregnant on September 1996, which meant she couldn't carry on making the show and it would have to be closed down if she didn't find a substitude. Rivera found a substitude, her cousin Maria Pia Copello, who took over the show in 1996.Many fans were very angry at this and hated Maria Pia, however the show was made an International hit in 1997 when new famous programmes that could only be shown on digital TV began to be transmitted on the show. Soon after this Karina recupperated and decided to return, however Copello was already made a National celebrity and did not give her cousin her job back. A similar programme, called: "Karina y sus amigos" (Karina and her friends" was introduced by Karina, although the show did not become a success and was closed down on October 2000. Maria Pia y Timoteo was closed down on January 2007, because the cast needed to take a break, however it is expected to return to America TV later in the year.
