Maria Liza A. Lopez-Rosario is an active law professor and law practitioner in the Philippines. She is a renowned expert in Philippine marriage and family laws.

She is a Senior Associate at Romulo Mabanta Buenaventura Sayoc and De Los Angeles, the third largest law firm in the country. She is also a Professorial Lecturer at the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law, the oldest law school in the Philippines; and at the La Salle-FEU MBA-JD Program, a pioneering academic consortium in the country.

Rosario was born in 1963. She earned a Bachelor of Arts major in Philosophy from the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Arts and Letters in 1984, graduating magna cum laude and receiving the Rector's Award for Academic Excellence, the highest academic honor given to a graduating student.[1]

She attended the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws, magna cum laude in 1988. She received the Rector's Award for the second time in 1988.[1]

She passed the Philippine Bar Examinations and was admitted to the Bar in 1989.[1]

She went to Spain for further studies, graduating with a Doctor of Civil Law, apto cum laude por unanimidad, from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1988. She remains one of the few living lawyers in the country to hold a D.C.L. degree from Spain.[1]

Rosario has been a Confidential Assistant at the Philippine Court of Appeals from 1987 to 1988; a Confidential Attorney in the same court from 1989 to 1990; and a Public Attorney at the Public Attomey's Office in Makati City in 1991.[1]

She has been teaching in the University of Santo Tomas Faculty of Civil Law since 1989 and in the La Salle-FEU MBA-JD Program since 2003. She is also a Bar Reviewer in several law schools in the country.[1]

Rosario is the legal counsel of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Phiippines (CBCP), the official organization of all catholic bishops in the country. She sits in the board of Pondo ng Pinoy Foundation and continues to be active in organizations affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church in the Philippines.[1]
