Maria Antonia "Toni" Berrios is a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives, representing the 39th District since 2003. Berrios is the first Puerto Rican woman to serve in the Illinois House of Representatives.
For the first time in her tenure as a state representative, Ms Berrios will face a challenger in the general election. Green Party candidate Jeremy Karpen, a therapist and domestic violence counselor, will face Berrios in the November election.
