Princess Margherita Isabella Maria Vittoria Emanuela Elena Gennara of Savoy-Aosta, Archduchess of Austria-Este, was born on April 7, 1930 in Naples, Italy as the first child of Prince Amedeo of Savoy-Aosta and Princess Anne d'Orléans.

She married Archduke Robert of Austria-Este on December 29, 1953 in Bourg-en-Bresse, Ain, France (civilly) and December 29, 1953 (religious), in Brou, France.
The couple had five children, all with the territorial designation of Austria-Este:

• Archduchess Maria Beatrice Anna Felicitas Zita Charlotte Adelheid Christina Elisabeth Gennara (December 11, 1954). Married Count Riprand of Arco-Zinneberg, a great-grandson of the last Bavarian king, Ludwig III, and has issue. They have six daughters:
  • Countess Anna Therese Marie von und zu Arco-Zinneberg (b. 1981 at Munich)
  • Countess Margherita Ginevra Maria von und zu Arco-Zinneberg (b. 1983 at Munich)
  • Countess Olympia Elena Maria von und zu Arco-Zinneberg (b. 1988 at Munich)
  • Countess Maximiliana Aimée Maria von und zu Arco-Zinneberg (b. 1990 at Greenwich, Connecticut)
  • Countess Marie Gabrielle Hillary von und zu Arco-Zinneberg (b. 1992 at Greenwich, Connecticut)
  • Countess Giorgiana Astrid Maria von und zu Arco-Zinneberg (b. 1997 at Greenwich, Connecticut)
• Archduke Lorenz Otto Carl Amadeus Thadeus Maria Pius Andreas Marcus d'Aviano (December 16, 1955), Created Prince of Belgium on November 10, 1995. Married September 22, 1984 at Brussels, Princess Astrid of Belgium (b. 1962) only daughter of King Albert II of the Belgians. They have three daughters and two sons:
  • Prince Amedeo Marie Joseph Carl Pierre Philippe Paola Marcus d'Aviano of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este (b. 1986)
  • Princess Maria Laura Zita Beatrix Gerhard of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este (b. 1988)
  • Prince Joachim Carl Maria Nikolaus Isabelle Marcus d'Aviano of Belgium, Archduke of Austria-Este (b. 1991)
  • Princess Luisa Maria Anna Martine Pilar of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este (b. 1995)
  • Princess Laetitia Maria Nora Anna Joachim Zita of Belgium, Archduchess of Austria-Este (2003- );
• Archduke Gerhard Thaddäus Anton Marcus d'Aviano Maria Umberto Otto Carl Amadeus (October 30, 1957);
• Archduke Martin Carl Amadeo Maria (December 21, 1959). Married Princess Katharina of Isenburg-Birstein. They have two sons:
  • Archduke Bartholomäus Karl Robert of Austria (b. 2006 at Pavia);
  • Archduke Emmanuel of Austria (b. 2008 at Pavia);
• Archduchess Isabella Maria Laura Helena Antonia Zita Anna Gennara (March 2, 1963). Married Count Andrea Czarnocki-Lucheschi. They have three sons and a daughter:
  • Count Alvise Marie Lorenz Bronislaw Robert Marcus d'Aviano Czarnocki-Lucheschi (b. 1999 at Brussels)
  • Count Carlo Amedeo Czarnocki-Lucheschi (b. 2000 at Brussels)
