Margarida
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Margarida is a Portuguese and Galician[1] girl's name, originating from the Latin word for pearl and meaning a daisy or forget-me-not in Portuguese. Short forms include Guida and Maggie (modern, sometimes spelt Magui). Rita, an Italian variation of this name, is very popular on its own.
The English equivalent can be Margaret or Daisy, or by derivation, Madge and Marge.
Not to be mistaken for the popular Mexican alcoholic drink Margarita or the Italian tomato and cheese based pizza Margherita.
