Margaret Hendrie

Margaret Hendrie (1924–1990) was a writer from the Pacific nation of Nauru.

She was the writer of the lyrics in the Nauruan language to Nauru Bwiema, the national anthem of Nauru, officially adopted in 1968.
Hendrie's lyrics were adapted to music composed by the Australian musician, Lawrence Henry Hicks, in preparation for the country's independence ceremonies celebrated in 1968.

Margaret Hendrie and Joanne Gobure are the most well-known writers from Nauru; unlike Gobure, Hendrie wrote in the indigenous Nauruan language.
