Marek Sell

Marek Sell (1951 - June 13, 2004) was a Polish computer programmer, best known as the creator of the first Polish anti-virus program, mks_vir.
Marek Sell graduated in 1976 from the Faculty of Mathematics of the Adam Mickiewicz University of Poznań. Initially working for the Poznań-based Plastics Institute, he soon moved to Warsaw, where he became one of the engineers working at the Mera works, one of the first producers of microcomputers in Poland.
In 1987 he created the first Polish anti-virus software, the mks_vir. The program gained much popularity in Poland. Among many other awards, it received the prestigious Teraz Polska badge. Since 1996 it is being developed by the MKS company founded by Sell himself.
Marek Sell died June 13, 2004, of cancer.
