Marcus Vinicius Vieira de Souza (born May 31, 1984 in Rio de Janeiro), better known as Marcus Vinicius, is a Brazilian professional basketball player, currently a free agent of the NBA. A 6'8", 225 lb forward, he was a second round draft choice of the New Orleans Hornets in the 2006 NBA Draft, chosen 43rd overall. He spent part of the 2006-7 season at the NBDL Tulsa 66ers, for which he played 13 games.[1] In 2007, he won a gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games. In 2008 he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, only to be waived 2 days later.[2] He played a total of 26 games for the Hornets, scoring 50 points.[3] Souza played professionally for Sao Carlos at the time of his selection in the draft. In 2004-05 season he has played professionally in Italy for the Serie A2 (second division) team Premiata Montegranaro.
