Marco Patricio Gatica Vergara (born 18 August 1987 in Viña Del Mar, Chile) is a football midfielder who plays for Santiago Wanderers in the Chilean soccer League.
Vergara who was born in Chile but moved to Toronto Canada at the age of 8, he played for several youth teams in the city of Toronto. But it wasn't until 2005 when he began his career at Santiago Wanderers, he has been a part of the starting team since the 2006-07 season. His debut game for Wanderers was on January 10, 2007 against Everton (4-1 to Santiago Wanderers). Scoring a goal and setting up an assist in his professional debut, he proved to be a promising player, unfortunately he tore his medial collateral ligament a couple of weeks later and was out for the remaining of the season. In the current campaign he is considered a vidal part in Wanderers midfield and despite his age is seen as a leader among his team-mates.

[edit] Future
After participating this past May in the 2008 Toulon Tournament, the most prestigious U-23 football event in Europe, where Vergara showed his all-around play, powerful long shots, passing ability, and tough defense. He caught the eye of a couple of European sides including Dutch champions Feyenoord and Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb, even the rumour of Vergara's desire to play for Toronto Fc make us bealieve that he wont be wearing the Santiago Wanderers jersey for much longer, especially once the Chilean League comes to an end this July. One thing is certain where ever it is that he ends up playing later this year will be his decision, his future is in his own hands.
