Marco Silvani

Marco Silvani is a fictional character from the Australian soap opera Neighbours. The character, played by Jesse Rosenfeld, appeared on the show in 2007 and is set to leave in July 2008.

According to Ten's official Neighbours website, Marco is the handsome heir to his father's fruit empire, and met Carmella Cammeniti through the business and has had a crush on her from the beginning. ^[1]

In an interview, actor Jesse Rosenfeld describes his character's involvement in Ramsay Street as follows: "A triangle of friction develops between Carmella, Oliver and Marco...Basically Oliver becomes territorial about Carmella because she’s expecting his child. He doesn’t like Marco at all, he’s jealous, which causes all kinds of tension. Meanwhile Marco is withholding a secret that could bring into question his motives for dating Carmella. This leads to a big punch-up at baby Chloe’s christening."^[2] Actress Natalie Blair, who plays Carmella, says "At first, she tries to fight her feelings for him...She feels that she shouldn’t be interested in a man when she’s carrying someone else’s baby. But the chemistry between them is irresistible." ^[3]

Marco's big secret is that he can never have children--a fact he believes he must keep from his father, who hopes that Marco will provide children to carry on the family name and keep the company going as a family business.^[1]
