Marco Aurelio Zani de Ferranti (born December 23, 1801 in Bologna; died November, 1878 in Pisa) was a classical guitarist and composer. He began on violin, but switched to guitar at 16. He moved to Paris in 1820 and later to Saint Petersburg before settling in Belgium. He later toured in France, England, Italy, and the United States. Although praised by Hector Berlioz in 1859 the 1850s were a period of decline and financial difficulty for him.[1]
