[edit] Signing for Galatasaray
Before signing with the Istanbul giants, he claimed to have turned away offers from other teams and other big European clubs - instead choosing Galatasaray for their European pedigree, recent trophies, and potential to perform in the biggest stage of all - the UEFA Champions League.[citation needed] On 27 July 2006 he officially signed for the team, opting for a 5-year contract worth around €1.8 Million. Yet he has still to impress Turkish football fans on the pitch.
In a press meeting, Carrusca had indicated that former Galatasaray manager Eric Gerets has not let him play his role in the team because they did not have same nationalities. However, Gerets was the only Belgian national in the whole club. He had also expressed his desire to stay, and to prove his worth over the next season. On 25 July 2007 Galatasaray Manager Karl Heinz Feldkamp reported officially that he did not wish to keep Carrusca on the team and asked the board to sell him in order to open space for a new foreign transfer.
While Carrusca's technical ability is undoubted, he is often criticized for his lethargic playing style and his unwillingness to get involved in defending situations as well as in attack, which doesn't suit the aggressive nature of Turkish football.
In the January transfer window of 2008, Carrusca was linked with Burnley F.C. to go on loan for the remainder of the season, however contract difficulties arose and the deal could not be done. Burnley manager Owen Coyle said that he would love to sign him and a summer move could be in the cards, for a loan, if not permanently.
[edit] International career
Carrusca played as an U-20 Argentina international, he has scored 2 goals in 16 of his recent appearances and was a member of the Argentina Under-20 team at the 2003 FIFA World Youth Championship.
