Marcela Guerra Castillo

Marcela Guerra Castillo is a Mexican politician from Nuevo León who is affiliated to the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI). She was one of the PRI candidates to the Senate of Mexico for the Mexican congressional elections held on July 2, 2006.

Guerra Castillo studied business administration at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM). She is married to Méntor Tijerina a highly renowned political strategist and campaign manager across Latin America.
[edit] Professional and political Career
She began her professional career in the public service as the head of different cultural institutios of Nuevo León including the Monterrey City Theater, she served as director of the extinct Museum of History of Nuevo León from 1991 to 1994, and then she served as subhead of the Monterrey Museum of Mexican History.
In 1997 she unsuccessfully ran for local deputy of Nuevo León losing against the PAN candidate Gerardo Garza Sada. In 2000 she ran again and lost against the PAN candidate Fernando Aguilar Jimenez but by means of the proportional representation she was able to obtain a seat in the Congress of Nuevo León serving from 2000 to 2003.
In 2003 she was elected federal deputy of Nuevo Leon defeating the PAN candidate Nena Delgado; she served in the Chamber of Deputies from 2003 to 2006 during the LIX Legislature of the Mexican Congress. In 2006 she ran for a seat in the Senate of Mexico representing Nuevo Leon but lost against the PAN candidate.
