Marcel Kars

Marcel Kars (born April 20, 1977 in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player, currently playing centre for the Newcastle North Stars of the Australian Ice Hockey League.
Kars was born and raised in Toronto, the son of Dutch immigrants. He spent one year with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League before going on to play four years of collegiate hockey for the University of Guelph.
Kars spent three seasons (2002-03 through to 2004-05) in the Netherlands, the country of his ancestry, playing first for the Tigers Amsterdam and then the Amsterdam Bulldogs before joining the North Stars in Australia in 2006.
Kars also represents the Netherlands in international competition, participating in the last three IIHF World Championship Division I campaign and in qualifying for the Turin Olympics.

- On August 6, 2006, while playing for the North Stars, Kars lit up the Canberra Knights for 12 points (8 goals, 4 assists) in a 21-2 victory in Newcastle.
