Marawara District

Marawara district is one of the 15 districts in Kunar Province, Afghanistan, bordering Pakistan to the East. It borders with Sirkanay district to the West, Asadabad district to the North-West and Dangam district to North-East. Marawara's population is not exactly known but some unofficial figures give its population no more than 18,000(2006). The Marawara (village) is the center of the district and is located in its most western part. Pashtun Mamund tribe is 100% of the population, Haji Hazrat Rehman is the current head of Marawara district. The mountainous terain and the lack of arable land and irrigation systems is the main problem in this area.
