Marangattupilly

Marangattupilly (Marangattupally) is a small village in Kottayam, Kerala. Most of its people are either farmers or engaged in small-scale business. The tenth President of India, K. R. Narayanan, was born and grew up in the neighboring village of Uzhavoor. Former minister for finance, revenue and law K M Mani was also born and brought up in this village.

The head office of Labour India Publications, with an educational research and development center and publishing company, and its Gurukulam public school are operating from this small village. The six floor air-conditioned building of Labour India groups is situated in the heart of Marangattupilly. Santhosh George Kulangara, the first Indian space tourist also belongs to this village.

Marangattupilly belongs to Palai constituency. Most of the people of this village are friendly and hospitable. There are many rubber plantations here.

The majority of the population belongs to Catholic community. St. Francis Assisi Church in Marangattupilly is a famous church and belongs to Pala diocise.In this parish around 650 Christian families live. This village has a Lions Club, police station,a Health center and a High School.

The nearest towns of Marangattupilly are uzhavoor and Kuravilangadu and nearest villages are Kadaplamattom and Aandoor.
