Maraimalai Nagar is a suburb of the southern Indian city of Chennai. Maraimalai Nagar and its surrounding areas are referred to as "New Chennai" by the media, due to recent industrial development. Many heavy industries are located in Maraimalai Nagar. Maraimalai Nagar Municipality Comprised of Kattankulathur, Potheri, and Singaperumal koil villages and constituted as Third grade Municipality in 2004. The town is divided in to 21 wards. The extent of Municipal Area is 58.08 sq.km.
