Maradu is a census town in Ernakulam district in the Indian state of Kerala.

As of 2001 India census[1], Maradu had a population of 40,993. Males constitute 50% of the population and females 50%. Maradu has an average literacy rate of 85%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 87%, and female literacy is 83%. In Maradu, 11% of the population is under 6 years of age.

The famous festival in maradu is the "Thalappoli Maholsavam" otherwise known as "Maradu Vedikkettu" of "Marattil Kottaram Baghavathy Kshethram." It is usually on February-March. It is the biggest "Fire Works" in kerala next to "Trissur Pooram." This festival is conduct by 2 committees known as "Vadake Cheruvaram" (North side of the Temple) and "Thekke Cheruvaram" (South side of the Temple).
Other festivals in maradu are the parish feast of St. Mary Magdalene's Church Moothedom, festival of Lord Siva in the Temples Ayani Siva Kshethra and Pandavathu Siva Kshethra, and festival in Netur Juma Masjid Mosque. Nettoor shiva temple comes under this panchayat.

Two National Highways are passing through the village. This is the place where the proposed High tech city is coming by shoba developers.In addition to these there is "Le Meridian -a 5 star hotel and international convention center,Lakeshore-a super specialty hospital with heli-ambulance service and several others like luxury car show rooms ,3 star hotels also contributes to its development.
Maradu Panchayat is termed as Class1 Panchayat in Panchayat category in kerala and also it a special grade Panchayat. Maradu Panchayat gets highest income among the Panchayats in Kerala. Kerala's first international convention center situated in this place. Now the Panchayat is on the way to get a shining position in kerala's tourism map by the Valanthakadu island development program.
