Marabá is a municipality (município) in the state of Pará in Brazil. Its coordinates are 5°22′07″S, 49°07′04″W. The population of the municipality in 2004 is 191,508, the area is 15,157.99 km² The elevation is 84 m (centre). The population of the town itself is 156,600 (IBGE estimate 2005). This place name comes from the Tupi language.
