Mara Devereux

Mara Devereux (b.1925) An American artist (also painted as Zabada Sloane and Mara Dowd) Devereux is the wife of of the late artist Robert Dowd whom she married in 1962. Devereux is a prolific abstract painter, her work and exhibitions span over 50 years. Her paintings are in many homes and collections in Beverly Hills, California and Museums throughout the country. Devereux sometimes exhibited with her husband. In the 1960's she was well known for her 5 sided box paintings (covered with plexy-glass) which were used as lazy susans. Devereux also does portrait painting. Devereux lives in Los Angeles and continues to paint and exhibit. Her work can be seen at the ASTO Gallery, LA. Devereux has a son from a previous marriage.
