[edit] Background

Because of a jilted, vengeful lover, two girls lead lives which should have been the other's. A diary is the key to unlock the chain of fate.

The soap that carved the name Judy Ann Santos in every viewer's heart, Mara Clara was one drama series that was well watched because it was realistic and was able to capture the Filipinos’ interest because of our love for the rags to riches stories.

[edit] Timeslot changes

It was originally aired at 1:30 p.m. slot after Eat Bulaga! until 1995. In 1995, it went to a 2:00 p.m. timeslot after Cristy Per Minute. But in 1996, due to the Marimar (aired over RPN) craze which led the ABS-CBN's early-evening or primetime newscast TV Patrol shifted from 1 hour to 30 minutes putting this series to a 6:30 p.m. timeslot. It never changed timeslot again until Esperanza (another Judy Ann Santos teleserye) took over the timeslot.
